Another Combat, but I learned a lot in this one as well. Let me share my couple of new rules, some of which I implemented in the middle of the game.
- Spell Users get Mana Aspect (Arcane), which is added to the damage and to hit of spells of that type, as well as decreasing the mana value, (but we’re so far away from that mattering.) This makes Arcane Spark a slow tier damage cantrip right away, incentivizing spell casting, as opposed to grabbing a rock.
- Some sort of Charge attack. Not sure of the init cost, but it lets you move some AND attack in the same action, so there isn’t the silly cat and mouse that the beginning of this sample showed.
- I need some smaller move actions. Like picking something up, drawing a weapon, standing from prone, etc.
- Deadliness has a bit more teeth out of the gate. Any excess damage beyond dropping to 0 is added to Deadliness. So that first time Al-har Thon fell, Deadliness should have been at 5 which would have killed him.
I’d love to hear any other thoughts you have about the game. I think I like a lot of it, but some of this was sort of silly. Pure level 0 characters might be too weak to be on their own.
